Here’s an equation for you: organizing your entire home plus blogging about organizing your entire home equals complete exhaustion. I wanted to make the 31 Days Organizing Challenge as authentic as possible, and work right alongside you for the duration– plus document it the entire step of the way. I photographed, edited, wrote, created images, published, and social media-ed in the process. I’m crawling towards the finish line, with some miles left uncovered but feeling like I ran the majority of the race as hard as possible. Some projects had been frozen mid-step since my daughter was born 6 years ago. It’s an emotional process, that we happened to tackle the coldest month of the year. Anyone else fighting hibernation tendencies too?
January may be over, but there’s still much left to share– miles to go before I sleep. So many photos and tips and organizing ideas that are working for us, all sitting in my drafts folder until I find a spare minute to share them. While I ate most of my big frogs I’m still not finished– there still donation drops to make, and smaller frogs to eat. If that sounds weird, read this post and you’ll understand I’m not a frogavore but rather someone who’s finally getting a grip on time management.
Plus I’ve had this little guy home with me a lot. With the snow and his school schedule, my buddy has been by my side quite a bit this month. That smile wins over organizing ANY day.
On that note, I’m going to keep the challenge going through February. We still have to hit up kids’ closets, bathrooms, garages, basements, and on and on. Plus craft supplies. And the playroom! I can’t wait to share how I finally discovered the secret to organizing my desk and papers. Plus all those ‘smaller frogs’: coupons, receipts, recipes, magazines. Pantries. Kitchen supplies. We may need another month.
On top of that, my hands are itching to pick up a paintbrush. My projects are screaming at me to start them again. I’m ready for glue under my fingernails and paint stained clothing. I’ve been missing sharing recipes and most especially a great cocktail or two. Plus it looks like the room makeovers I’ve been planning are actually going to happen! THIS IS HAPPENING! And it’s happening within the lens of all I’ve learned this month: that less is more, that in order to stop delcuttering I need to stop the clutter, and how to prioritize my tasks and projects so they’ll actually get finished.
Are you ready to keep going? Some decluttering, some organizing, with lots of projects sprinkled in between? I hope so. We have so many more frogs to eat and things to paint and deep breaths to take.
Who’s with me? And don’t forget to enter the giveaway for the Samsung Galaxy Tab4 that ends in a few days! ‘Cause I LOVE YA!
