It’s finally here, a local Cost Plus World Market! I’ve been waiting over a decade for one to finally show up in my area, so when we were invited to check out the new store and indulge in some shopping of course we jumped at the chance. Judging from the crowds and expressions of awe at the recent grand opening I was not the only one thrilled to finally have one in the Philly area. What I adore about this store are the unique finds that appeal to a wide variety of styles, all at a price point YOU WILL LOVE.

I’ve actually visited the brand new Montgomery, PA store twice since they’ve opened. Once was for the grand opening festivities with my kids in tow (usually I’d never do that but with my husband traveling I could not miss out) and once solo so I could scoop up all the things I left behind after my first quick visit. Both were enjoyable experiences and it was fun to watch the other customers oooohing and ahhhhhing over everything! Some of my favorite items were snapped up that first night, hence my return the following week after they had a chance to restock.

What can I say? I AM IN LOVE. The grand opening has such a festive vibe and I briefly got to say hi to a few fellow home blogging friends (and I tried to steal everything in their carts, ha!). These geometric glass hurricanes didn’t come home with me … YET. But their days are numbered. I WANT.

The store itself is bright with lots of displays to give ideas on how to use the items in your home.

I was careful to only purchase things we need and love. In fact, as I’ve been decluttering and cleaning my home I made a list of needed items. I’m trying to place the chipped & worn stuff (hello, wedding registry glassware) with items that work better for us now.

Case in point: our glassware was down to just a few from our original set and the rest pieced together over the years. This was not bringing me joy.  World Market to the rescue. These sturdy glasses and tumblers were only $2.99 each and have now replaced the mismatched stuff!

Another troubled area in our home is this lonely corner. It NEEDS a chair, but in years of searching I wasn’t able to find one we loved. I snagged this navy blue slipper chair within one minute of walking into World Market– it was on super sale and I’d been looking for the perfect shade of navy. SCORE!

I grabbed several of the fucshia throw pillows to contrast with the chair, and it was time to add a faux fur blanket to the mix as well since we all fight over the one we already had.

The curtains in Abby’s room were from back in the day when I thought it was brilliant to use hem tape and IKEA fabric to make curtains. She’s seven now and they didn’t reflect her maturing personality. I struggled over which curtains to buy, there were so many gorgeous patterns to choose from! In the end, since her room is already quite colorful and fairly small I went with a neutral gray with this beautiful design. She loves it! I’m heading back next week to get another panel for the other side.

This acacia cutting board with the copper handle was the star of my cart. I had three people stop me and ask where I found it– in fact, I’m pretty sure they sold out that night. This is the type of cutting board I will not use for cutting, but rather for using as a cheese or bread board when entertaining. My every day boards are filled with cut marks but this baby is all mine!

Ready for my favorite find of the day? These arrow hooks! The only problem is I want to put them EVERY.WHERE. Literally, there are 4 places fighting for them in my home. In the end, I put them on my backsplash to store mugs. Another need was a space for fruits and veggies– especially since I tend to follow a Whole30 diet, our original fruit bowl is constantly overflowing. What I love about these copper hanging baskets are that they can be placed out of the way but still have TONS of storage space! There are a million uses– from fruit to plants to toiletries to just about anything & anywhere that you need extra storage.

The burning question: can you take your kids to World Market? YES! Not only is there an area with special toys  and finds for kids but they also have a Marketplace with amazing food products from around the world.  This was the ace in the hole when it came to bribing my kids to be on their best behavior.

Of course she picks up the fake rat. PUT DOWN THE RAT!

In fact, the only item from my list that I didn’t purchase was a hamper. Quite honestly I didn’t have room in my car! They had a nice selection so I’ll be sure to look again the next time I return.

I’m truly in awe of how much I was able to get for such a reasonable price. I was able to buy everything in this post for under my $300 ‘home sprucing’ budget (keep in mind I used the 15% off coupon offered for the Grand Opening).

Totally worth it to buy items we love to replace the ones that no longer work in this season of life. Oh World Market, how I’ve missed you!
