I’ve posted several gift guides over the past week, highlighting what’s on our wish lists this holiday season. My kids’ eyes light up when discussing what Santa might bring and planning careful lists of what they want to find under the tree. It’s pretty easy to get caught up in receiving sometimes, especially when dreaming of LEGO mini-figures and Frozen dolls. However that’s not the point of the season, and I’m trying really hard to encourage my kids to give back– which can be a challenge when visions of new toys dance in their heads.

This Giving Tuesday is a chance to highlight why we give, and think about the needs of others. I sat down with the kids last night to record their wish for others this season and share a snippet of our story and why giving has been embedded in Abby’s heart from the day she was born:

You can share your #WishForOthers too! Share your wish for someone else – a family member, a friend, a neighbor, or a community — with #WishForOthers on Twitter, Instagram, or the Capital One Facebook Page from Nov. 24 through Dec. 23 for a chance to make it come true.

It’s easy, visit Wish For Others for complete rules and regulations and to see what others are wishing for others this holiday season.

Or, share it firsthand. Capital One is also bringing to life a real life wishing booth experience in a Capital One 360 café in the cities listed below through TODAY, Giving Tuesday (12/2) so YOU can share your #WishForOthers. These wishing booths are open today from 7am to 6pm in the following locations:

  • Boston Cafe: Back Bay, 799 Boylston Street, Boston, MA 02116 (my hometown!)
  • Chicago Cafe: 21 E Chestnut Street, Chicago, IL 60611
  • New York Cafe: 968 3rd Avenue, New York, NY 10022
  • San Francisco Café: 101 Post Street, San Francisco, CA 94108

Giving feels so good and you’re helping others and teaching kids the meaning of the season at the same time. What’s not to love?

This holiday season, I want to know YOUR wish for others. Share in the comments below and then head over to WishForOthers.com for your chance to make those wishes come true!
