You guys. I don’t know if it’s this crazy weather, post-Christmas exhaustion or a ‘trying to get back into a routine’ slump but I’ve been so sluggish lately! Which is probably the absolute worst time for me to do something totally terrifying and new like speaking at the Philadelphia Home Show next week, right?
Yup, you read that correctly– I’ll be presenting on the main stage at the Home Show on Monday, January 20th at 1:00 and 5:00. Even though I was a teacher, speaking to adults gives me the jitters but this is a topic I so often get asked about (and ask others, myself!) that I decided to take a deep breath and just LEAP onto the stage. I just hope I don’t overshoot the leap and fall flat on my face, though chances are good that I will, so don’t you want to be there to see it?
Truly, this is a topic I’m passionate about– balancing your style with the needs of your family. Alternatively titled: How to Have a Stylish Home Your Kids Won’t Trash. I’m sharing 10 problems I hear all the time (and have myself) regarding mixing kids with stylish options from flooring to furniture to wall treatments– and how to solve them. What’s the best paint to use? What types of furniture function best? How do you get marker out of couches? And my TOP-SECRET trick to getting a duvet cover on in under a minute. You know, the good stuff. TONS of tips, tricks, and money savers to boot!
Plus, oh, I’m working with a small little brand called West Elm. YES, you heard correctly! Since they’re so close to the convention center we’re partnering together so I can share my FAVORITE family friendly finds at the show. You know I’m a stark raving fan for West Elm, so yes, it’s a dream come true. And also I’m going to do a DIY workshop there later this winter, but I’ll spill those deets when they get finalized (and you’re all invited, of course!)
To give you a Home Show preview, here’s a photo from the latest Restoration Hardware KIDS Catalog I’d like you to caption:
I lurve me some Resto, but woah, is that a melancholy kids room photo or what?!
Let’s live authentically, let our style SHINE, and decorate with what we love using some easy tips and tricks I’ve learned from the trenches. Do you think you’ll be there on Monday? Be sure to introduce yourself! It’s at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, right down the street from where my daughter lived in the NICU for 2 months. There’s more details on the Philly Home Show website, including a discount on the tickets. I’ve also been told I’ll get some free tickets to giveaway, so check my Facebook page for updates!
And chime in below with problem areas in your home, solutions you’ve found, how you tame the toys, or decorating disasters. Plus a caption for that Restoration Hardware catalog photo.
