We have an informal system for updating our home that changes with the seasons. Over the winter I tend to focus on the interior since I’m stuck inside anyways. Spring is for cleaning, summer is for the yard and landscaping (sort of, we’re not super good at that– our poor neighbors!) and fall is for home repairs. Guess which season is rolling around? That’s right—home repair season. Time to break out the Krazy strong, Krazy fast Krazy Glue.
No, really. I’m a perfectionist so I tend to put things off unless I can fix them ‘perfectly’, which means nothing gets done. Learning to embrace the quick fix is changing my life. Case in point: yesterday, I grabbed two tubes of Krazy Glue and tried to see how many annoying household repairs I could accomplish in one hour. I put on a pair of rubber gloves and got to work. Let’s see how I did:
Finally reattached that little knob on my sliding light switch? Just a dab of Maximum Bond Krazy Glue, and CHECK!
I’d show a photo, but ‘clean light switch’ apparently was left off my to-do list and I don’t want to scare you.
My favorite belt fell apart. I’m sure had nothing to do with all those tortilla chips I enjoyed this summer.
I squeezed a little of the Maximum Bond Krazy Glue on both sides of the piece of leather that fell off and in between the two open pieces, pinched it closed for 30 seconds, and DONE.
This kitchen drawer broke a few weeks ago, and it looks a little tipsy.
Okay, a lot tipsy.
Krazy Glue has several products for each and every repair need, including one with a no-run gel if you need something a little thicker that would be perfect for this quick repair. I squeezed it into the cracks of the dovetails and held it closed for one minute. Then I let it dry longer before placing the drawer back.
Not only did fixing it take care of the problem, but it also forced me to clean out the utensils. Wow that drawer was out of control (54 rubber bands, really, Carrie?)
A bit of Krazy Glue and it’s back in place. KER-CHECK.
This stuff is proving to be invaluable. I’m adding tubes to my toolbox, junk drawer, and craft bin. Why spend tons of money on costly repairs if a little dab of glue will go? There are SO many ideas and ways to use it, check out the Instant Fix Pinterest board to get some ideas of just what these tubes can do!
And now, to attack the broken toy bin. Krazy Glue will knock those repairs out quickly but I need to wait for cover of darkness. Send reinforcements, please. In the form of mojitos and an hour of Bravo t.v. as I glue all those much-loved toys back togther! Once again, Krazy Glue Saves the Day .
What repairs do you have that need to be checked off your to-do list? Any clever ideas you loved on the Instant Fix Pinterest board?
