Hey hey everyone! Just back from another Haven conference and in dire need of a nap and possibly a shower. Before I get into things, I have to tell you something… it’s pretty cool… Better Homes and Gardens liked my gilded edge agate coasters enough to feature them in an Ultimate Summer vote-off this week!
Like actors who are thrilled just to get nominated, I’m in awe that my quick little DIY coasters were put up against such amazing projects by a few of my favorite fellow bloggers.
But let’s rewind that back: my QUICK. LITTLE. DIY. COASTERS.
Which brings me to this: I’m in the season of my life where most of my DIY projects aren’t big. They’re not fancy. They are what I can accomplish in the few free minutes I find each day, usually taking between 15 minutes and an hour to pull off. My room makeovers are gradual, building over time allows me to paint or reupholster or sew. When I tackle a bigger project, it’s a “please-honey-take-the-kids-out-for-the-day-so-I-can-do-this-big-thing” type deal, which is important once in awhile, but in THIS season of my life means I’m missing out on family time. So while small, while humble, while simple and fast—I’m a honored that the project they chose was one that so perfectly represents the mission of my blog.
I’m guessing a few of you are in this season as well, with little free time and the free time you DO have is spent with your family. If so, you might like the 5 Minute Bathroom Storage trick, $15 HUGE Fabric Wrapped Bulletin Board, Faux Canvas Wrapped Prints, and other quick and easy DIY home décor ideas (check out the For My Home tab above, or the 15 minute decorating series here for more). If you’re in another season where you’re ripping down drywall and building tables, you know I’ll cheer you on too. Get it, girl!
So here’s to the gilded agate coasters, the David among the Goliaths. It would mean so much if you’d take a minute to vote for them here (you can do so every hour if you wish, and oh boy, wouldn’t that be sweet!) And while I sit back and dream of the days I can take on bigger projects I’ll also be thankful for the years I couldn’t.
The gilded edge agate coaster years, I’ll call them.
Thanks for your support. The days may be long but the years are short. And gilded.

So cool! We used to have similar pieces of rock. I don’t know where they are now; they would make awesome coasters.
Congratulations!
