Bee’s first birthday is this weekend, and I’ve been running around finishing last minute details before his shindig. I’ve managed to knock-off both Land of Nod’s nautical flags and the lifesaver throw pillow from the Boat Party Inspiration Board, saving oodles of money. I let my fingers do the {online} walking for the rest and have received almost everything I ordered– just waiting for a photo book from Shutterfly to make everything complete. Hope it arrives before the big day so everyone can sign it, wouldn’t that be a great keepsake?!? In order to keep the budget under $100 I’m also attempting my own cupcakes {from a box, but still. Have you seen my baking skills?} We’ll see how this goes. 😉

In other news, Noodle has been practicing going to preschool for the past few weeks. If you remember from my post about being “special“, her attempt in the fall didn’t go so well. What a difference nine months makes. She’s been alternating going in with me, her speech therapist, and her OT for increasing amounts of time and has only cried once, and it was a fake cry at that. Her comments? “School is fun!” “I like school.” “Boys are there.” Usually said all at one time. I know, I am in trouble.

Let’s see, what else? It’s been raining here non-stop so it’s good I got that post about our deck and trellis wall published when I did– otherwise I’d be whining about not being able to take photos. There were a few questions, which I LOVE, so here are the answers until I get an in-depth post written:
1. What color is the deck stain?
Cabot’s SOLID Cordovan Brown (we tried 7 different shades, that’s the honest truth. I told you I needed an in-depth post).
2. Where did you get the rug?
Home Depot, last year, for 25% off and FREE shipping. They were having a sale on rugs online only, so it was cheaper to order it and have it delivered than going there myself. Which was fabulous news for this tired mama of two little babes.
Alright, friends, I’m off to hang some flags and whip up some cupcakes. Have a beautiful weekend and take a minute to enjoy the little things. I’ve been snuggling Bee like there’s no tomorrow, in awe that my little sweetie will be one on Saturday…

Aw, I bet your cupcakes are going to come out awesome.
And for real, while I do love baking from scratch, for the Babby’s second birthday I was doing a complicated thing with colors, so yeah, BOX all the way!
