Choose Noodle’s New Room Color with #Gliddentesters!

So I happen to have a history of being pretty indecisive.

For example, remember when I asked for your help in choosing my living room wall color?  This, my friends, is the work of a crazy person:

Yes, I actually bought that many samples.  Do you know how much work it is to go to the store, get a sample made, paint it on the wall in several places, wash your brush, brood over it, go to the store to get another sample, and repeat?  And, in my case, repeat times nine?

It’s like someone asked me to choose my favorite child.  I can not decide on just one.  Each has it’s own unique quality, personality, and mood.  At this point I’ve just crossed the line from crazy to certifiable.

Well, here we go again.  I’ve decided to give Noodle’s room a makeover.  Yesterday’s post explains why, but in summary– as adorable as it is, it’s time for a change.  The memories are too strong, and Noodle deserves a fresh start.

Plus, in truth, it doesn’t look much like this anymore.  We’ve squeezed in a full sized mattress (but still have the crib, just in case) and said crib is covering the canvas tree art because both my little sweetie pies try to pull them off the wall.  Stinkers.

Thanks to Glidden, I was given the chance to make my dream of a “Big Girl Room” happen.  In my journey to a new room for Noodle I was able to chose any three colors, use their handy paint testers to create large swatches, and have you– my lovely blog friends– decide our fate.

{Have I told you how much I love you lately?  I know you’ll choose wisely!}

The process began with this, my inspiration: a box from Tiffany.

In a pure “aha” moment I realized turquoise is actually a neutral.  Don’t believe me?  Try it with white, brown, hot pink, green, orange, yellow… see, a neutral!  But do I have the guts to paint the whole room that color?  I’m not sure!

So it was off to Walmart to look at paint chips.  I was happily pulling swatches from the display when Bee dumped an entire bag of Teddy Grahams on the floor directly in front of it.  Gulp.  {please don’t fire me!}   Thankfully I had a stack of amazing colors to choose from in my hand as I scooted from the store (after notifying employees that there was a “cleanup on aisle Bee”, of course).

Who, me, dumping a whole bag of Teddy Grahams?  You’ve got the wrong guy! {snicker}

After much back-and-forth, I narrowed them down to three choices.  Two are safe, and one is fabulous but outside my typical color comfort level (guess which one?):

Misty Aqua
safe and soothing, like tumbled seaglass

Pistachio Ice Cream
similar to what’s already in that room, but more on the green side than yellow

True Turquoise
bold and fun, it’s the closest to the Tiffany box

Determined not to make the same mistake as I did in my living room, I painted the testers onto pieces of posterboard.  This way, I could move them around the room without having to actually paint every wall.  I’ve learned looking at color on various walls is so important since light hits in different ways depending on the time of day and location.  Also, it allowed me to look at one color at a time instead of having the other colors vying for attention That’s another mistake I previously made.  It was difficult to envision one color if all of them were there!

First of all, how awesome are these Glidden testers?  With the paint and brush together?  For only $2.49 at Walmart?  PRE-MADE and ready to go?!?  Genius!  I should add that through July 30th, you can use this coupon for a tester in the Brilliance collection and snag it for under .50.  Yeah, for reals.  It would be great to use toward smaller DIY projects {and you KNOW I have one coming up for this room, right?}

Here’s a recap of our shopping trip for the testers. This time, I was smart and brought a toy instead of a bag of Teddy Grahams for Bee.

Without further ado, may I present:

Pistachio Ice Cream

True Turquoise

All together now:

Such a good helper, right?

The colors are hard to photograph because the room is pretty dark with just one window (and I took the photos at 6PM), but using what you already know about the room, Noodle, and the color swatches above please choose the color you like the best for this space. I want to remind you how much I love you all.  I know you’ll choose wisely for our little Noodle!

Besides, would you let a face like this one down?

She’s counting on you to vote in the poll below with your favorite color choice.  I’d love to hear why you chose it in the comments section if you have an extra second.  Results and the rest of the makeover coming up… SOON!
{right after you decide our fate, that is!}
