Motherhood doesn’t leave many free moments for ‘me’ time, and the truth is I’ve spent most of the past 5 years in perpetual exhaustion– running from place to place, attempting to balance working from home and my family, juggling doctor’s appointment and so much more. When solo time does come, it’s usually measured in minutes. How do I treat myself, when I have 2 minutes of solo time each day? COFFEE. I find my bliss in a cup of steaming, frothy coffee. It warms my SOUL. I wish I was exaggerating.
When I transitioned into a low-dairy diet, there was one thing I couldn’t give up– the occasional milk or cream in my coffee. Bye bye, ice cream; adios, my beloved greek yogurt; BUT HANDS OFF MY LATTE, yo!
Of course, lattes and mochas require special equipment so it usually means a trip to the coffee shop. You know the one. 😉 My twice weekly indulgence really began to add up, unfortunately. Good news, just in time for National Coffee Day (woot!) Gevalia Coffee is sharing it’s new amazing two-step brewing system that allows you to ‘Foam at Home’ and create specialty beverages in your Keurig brewer. It’s made with real milk so you know what you’re getting. Simply empty the foam packet into your mug:
and brew the special K-cup over it and stir.
Voila! Foam at home!
There’s three flavors available, is your favorite included? (mine is cappuccino…)
- Mocha Latte — A creamy, perfectly balanced blend of cocoa and coffee topped with a velvety layer of foam
- Caramel Macchiato — Creamy and smooth, with the indulgent flavor of caramel, topped with a velvety layer of foam
- Cappuccino — Smooth, mildly sweet with subtle roasted coffee notes, topped with a velvety layer of foam
How does it taste, for real? I’m very very picky, so here are my thoughts:
The foam was a great bonus, it made the drink feel legit. The taste was rich and full-bodied, there’s no bitter taste whatsoever. You can tell it’s made with real milk. This is definitely a drink that gives me a pick-me-up, a great home version of my favorite brews at a fraction of the price. I’m giving it two thumbs up; looks like I found a new indulgence for my blissful moments! Quite frankly, I’m not sure how I’m going to go back to non-foamy K-cups anymore…
In other words, I LOVED IT. For more information, you can read about the Foam at Home system on the Gevalia Coffee website and can purchase boxes 6 or 9 K-Cups at most mass retailers. PS- you can sign up for a free sample starting today on the Foam at Home website. I personally want to find who invented this and give them a great big hug.
Giveaway: you can win a box of Gevalia Coffee ‘Foam at Home’ K-cups to brew for a coffee break in your home, too!

So…I recently switched to 1/5 caffeinated coffee. That is pathetic, I know. I like to brew it up french press style and drink it black! But I DO have a Keurig to use on mornings where I can’t wait that long, so I would have fun trying out the foams for a treat!

First thing in the morning it’s straight, bold and black. That’s at 5:00 AM. Mid-morning, about 10:00 AM is the time a little latte or foam would be SO welcome, but I’m at work and…oh, with this product I just might be able to indulge. We do have access to a Keurig.

I’m curious about the cost comparison vs. buying the coffee at Starbucks. It looks like the savings would add up over time to pay for the Keurig.

I love pumpkin spice lattes right now. And honestly, the foam is my favorite part of a cup of “coffee!” If it is as wonderful as you say, I need to invest in some right now!

I don’t drink much coffee at home because I’m more of a fancy coffee girl. If I do go get a coffee, I get a white chocolate mocha or caramel machiatto. (I’m sure I spelled that wrong!)

I’ve been trying to make these at home and have been using dark chocolate torani, because I can’t find the white chocolate at the grocery store I go to. I’ve resorted to melting white chocolate every morning. where do you get this white chocolate sauce?!
