…or do you have a camera, but want to learn how to take better photos? One of my resolutions was to learn how to use my new SLR camera. Thankfully, many of my bloggy peeps have made that a bit easier. Here are some links I’ve found to really get the New Year {and New Camera} started off right!
In a FABULOUS series by Manic Mother, Bloggography is teaching us all about our cameras in a class type of format. She posts on a topic each Tuesday, and then you are off to explore. This week’s challenge is a winter-themed photo. She puts up a linky for you to share your photo and browse others. No obligation, completely free– I’m so excited about this one. It just started, so if you check it out now then you won’t be far behind at all! {NOTE: clicking on the word Bloggography takes you to the first challenge, and clicking on the button takes you to the Manic Mother homepage.}
I’d heard so much about Pioneer Woman but never visited her blog– until last week. She lured me in with her Buttered Rosemary Skillet Rolls. But she’s also an amazing photographer, and her articles on how your camera works and taking better photos are very well written and easy to understand. I read this before the Manic Mother Bloggography series started, and I’m glad I did so I have a teeny bit of knowledge moving forward. Now, if PW could just stand next to me and whisper in my ear which settings I should use before I take a photo I’d be much obliged.
Natalie from Natalie’s Sentiments also got a new camera this year, but is way ahead of me in finding out how to use it. She’s giving away a copy of The Basic Book of Digital Photography to one lucky reader. I know telling you about this greatly lowers my chances of winning it, but I had to include it because Natalie’s blog is just that fabulous (as is the Digital Photography book!)
Lastly, I subscribe to a weekly newsletter called PhotoJojo. It’s fun, it’s quirky, it’s easy on the eyes. I loved today’s idea: create a message in your camera in case someone finds it {they call it a “summoning spell”}. The tip on Photojojo originally came from Andrew McDonald, and his message is pretty darn cute. I will never get around to doing this, but thought is was clever nonetheless.
