Easy Christmas Advent Calendar (great kids craft activity-- it's inexpensive, quick, and pretty-- what's not to love?!)

Popping in for a minute for a super quick Christmas craft: a stamped advent calendar that doubles as a kids’ activity to keep ’em busy. As much as I love our photo advent calendar, it was getting tired, so on a recent shopping trip I picked up a few supplies to create a new one. Advent calendars provide a tangible way to countdown until Christmas morning, plus you can fill these little bags with either small treats or activities from this advent activity printable.

BONUS: you can pick up all the supplies easily at your local craft store. I got everything at Michaels with a coupon bringing the grand total to about $5. Here’s the easy advent calendar tutorial!

TOP SECRET CONFESSION: when I bought the supplies, they came in packs of 24 but I needed 25. WAHHHHH! So I cheated: for the 25th day, I used a muslin bag to make it ‘extra special’, tied it to the line, and cut out a white circle for the label. Bazinga!

Supplies:

25 treat bags

25 mini clothespins

25 white labels

number stamps and stamp pad

ribbon (I used burlap ribbon)

Directions:

1. Have *someone* stamp each white circle with number 1-25.

2. Glue circles onto each little bag.

3. Attach ribbon to the wall. I used thumbtacks. Don’t hate. (I once had someone comment on a post where I put screws in the wall that their husband would ‘kill them’ if they put screws in the wall. Really? He’d kill you over something a little spackle and paint could fix? I’d be dead if I was married to that guy. My advice? Live a little. Put thumbtacks in your wall. IT CAN BE FIXED. Being a jerk can’t. VENT OVER.)

Ahem. Where was I? Clip each bag to the ribbon using mini-clothespins.

4. Fill with treats or advent activity slips.

Now my kids don’t have to ask ‘how many more days until Christtttttmaaaassssssss…..????!”, they can count for themselves.

Plus, it’s pretty. I love how it sits under our faux mantel (which I’m still styling, stay tuned!) right where we can see it every morning.

Do you have an advent calendar? Take advantage of those craft store coupons and go grab the supplies today; there’s still time to make one! And quick poll: would you murder someone for putting thumbtacks in the wall?
