Buckle up, buttercups, because this easy trick to get the juiciest burgers ever with NO added fat is going to blow your mind. Summer is grilling season, and I recently learned a trick to get the JUICIEST burgers and wanted to share before you hit the grill this weekend! My kids thought I was nuts when they saw me doing this, but I’m happy to report not only does this trick work but it produced the juiciest burgers I’ve ever made without using added fat.
Ready? It’s so simple. When you are making your burger patties, use your thumb to make an indentation in the middle of the top of the burger. We’d always done that step, but what comes next will blow your mind: now fill the indentation with ice.
I use ice chips straight from my ice dispenser, but I’m guessing this works with cubed ice as well. Ice chips really work well though if you’re making smaller burgers like sliders.
Place the ice burgers immediately on the grill, and when the ice melts it’s time to flip. Grill as usual. Take off the grill when ready, and enjoy the juiciest burgers on the planet WITHOUT needing to add extra fat! It’s so simple but it really works.
The best part is you can use this trick with your favorite burger recipe. I usually just season mine with salt and pepper, but if you’re making a fancy version go ahead and make this your last step before throwing it on the grill.
