This is the penultimate question in my life, and if you’re like many moms, it’s probably a major issue in your world as well. Between wiping potty-training bottoms and finding time to sit on your bottom, the bottom line is this…
Now, before you discount me as just another working mommy blogger (after all, my blog is “Confessions From A Working Mom”, emphasis on working), let me say this: I do think that stay at home moms have a job. Unlike my vision of my own SAHM as a child, I now know these moms don’t sit at home all day eating bon-bons and watching soap operas. They have a workload to accomplish on a daily basis, just like I do.
So whether you’re navigating a pile of papers on your desk, a pile of bills on your kitchen counter, or a pile of laundry (clean or dirty) on your floor, how do you get it all done?
One word, ladies, one word:
I know, it’s tough to admit that you need help, let alone ask for it. In a day and time when women are expected to have it all and do it all, acknowledging that you manage it all on your own is akin to defeat.
But have you ever thought how much easier your life would be if you asked for that help? What if you could cut down on your housework by asking your spouse to handle certain chores (tip: don’t ask him to clean the bathroom– men can’t see the grime and dirt like women can!)? What if you could cut down on your responsibilities at work by handing some simpler tasks off to a subordinate? What if you could find more “me” time by asking your kids to pick up after (gasp!) themselves?
It’s OK. You’re not a super-hero. You don’t have to be. You just have to be the best you can be.
Start by filling in the blanks in this sentence…
I’ll go first…
What do YOU need help doing? It’s time to confess, right here, right now!
