Halloween decor on a dime... i can't believe how easy it is to get a stylish look for just a few dollars using these tricks and ideas!

They’re going to revoke my Dollar Store credit card, I just know it. Okay, a Dollar Store credit card isn’t a thing but I can’t stop myself from making budget friendly decorations. Which is funny, because I actually don’t like Halloween. But my KIDS do, and my son in particular has been begging me to deck the Halloween halls since August. So here you go, my FINAL (I promise!) installment of fall decor on a dime… stylish Halloween decor for everyone!

First up is my favorite, but I need to note that the ‘before’ owl as a cheap-o trinket from China, not a priceless heirloom. PROMISE. So no hate mail because I ruined something with paint, m’kay? Check out the $1 thrift store owl I found. I gave him a few good coats of glossy black spray paint and red glitter glue eyes (from the Dollar Store) and voila, SPOOKY OWL. My son loves the crap out of it now.

I don’t know why we love him, but we do.

Next was the Spooky cloth from The Dollar Store. My original intent was to turn it into a spider web table runner but there’s been so many great versions of them on blogs this month I skipped the extra work and simply sprayed it with a little fabric starch and laid it on the sideboard.

I went a little crazy with the birds, but these ravens were only $1 (guess where?) so I grabbed a few and placed them all around.

Then I went a bit crazy with glassware. An IKEA bottle, a Dollar Store goblet, and a chalkboard tag from the dollar spot at Target. Put them together and you’ve got some spooky brew.

I scored these brass display boxes at a thrift store last year and inside is a 35 cent ‘brain’. Though I keep finding the brain all around the house. Little squirrels keep stealing it?

15 ways to transform thrifty finds into DIY fall decor... that doesn't look like it came from The Dollar Store (but it did, shhhhh!)

This one is perfect for parties. I found these snack containers at the DS (I’m just going to shorten the name now, I’m saying it so much) and drew on bloodshot eyes. Kinda looks like monsters, or me after my Beaches all-inclusive hangover this week (friends, that series will be a doozy! Stay tuned!). 😉

  1. Very nice! Where did you find that beautiful glassware that looks like white milk glass?

    1. Well, those did not come from the Dollar Store. 😉 Those are Fenton and I picked up various pieces at antique stores and thrift stores when I was in my 20’s (they’ve gone up in price a little bit, but I still find the little bowls once in awhile at thrift stores). The style is Silvercrest and the lacy pattern is called Spanish Lace. You can find similar styles in clear glass at thrift stores, and then just spray paint them! Of course, spray painted servingware is NOT food safe but it sure is pretty to look at. 🙂

      1. I noticed the Fenton right off the bat!!! lol Love it!! These are adorable. I will def be trying a few of these, in the next couple days. We dont have many stores where I live, but we do have a Dollar General and a Dollar Tree!! Super ideas! Thank you for sharing

        1. Good eyes to notice the Fenton! I bought it when it was in my 20’s and I love it because it’s such a classic look. Can’t really go wrong with white servingware. Well, if you’re not in an area with a lot of stores at least you can find almost anything at the Dollar Tree. Except Fenton (i wish, ha!) Happy DIY-ing!

  2. I too love using lots of what I’ve got, some natural elements like branches, pine cones, or pumpkins and a few thrifted/cheapies to throw a look together! Much less stress on the wallet, and no guilt 🙂 Looks pretty fabulous to me!!!!

    1. Thanks Shannon! I love natural elements too; nature is so beautiful, why not take advantage? 😉

  3. It’s amazing what a little spray paint can do!! These decorations look great and I love the all the white with a little black thrown in. Looks Halloween chic. Is that a thing? It should be!

    1. Ohhhh, I think Halloween Chic should totally be a thing. That’s what I was going for, so thrilled you approve!
