My personal contribution to the giveaway was to add these two amazing sponsors. Are these my style or what?! And how about this gorgeous custom monogrammed necklace from PersonalizeMe Jewelry? Summer is a time of weddings (and anniversaries), so this fit in beautifully. I’m actually getting the initials of my kids and husband for my monogram so I can always have them over my heart. ::: cue the awwwww:::

My oldest son’s third birthday! We, too, went through a traumatic birth experience. My son was born unresponsive and it took the doctors 22 minutes to resuscitate him. We were given a pretty poor prognosis during those days in the NICU. But by the grace of God, my sweet boy is doing far better than we could have imagined! He still has obstacles to overcome in his development, but we are so, so thankful for each day we have together as a family! Psalm 9:10
Carrie Higgins says
I can only imagine what an amazing memory his birthday is each year! Everyone thinks I go overboard for my daughter’s birthday, and I’ll admit it, I DO… but how can I not when she’s a miracle like your son!! His story sounds so similar to my daughter’s birth. Thanks for sharing. HOORAY for miracle baby birthdays!

My favorite of this summer so far….at our annual camping trip with a huge group of friends (9 kids, 11 adults, and growing every year) one friend handed out glow stick necklaces to all the kids. Another pulled out his guitar and played a little tune while the kids had a mini rave in the woods, dancing and twirling their glow sticks. A move called “the color clash” was invented. Seeing 9 children ranging in age from 18 months to 11 years old get a long and party down is one memory I’ll cherish for a long time.

Easy! This summer, we met some friends who also have 2 daughters in Orlando. I have one child who’s hard to understand, and one who can barely speak, but they both love swimming – as do my friend’s kids. We spent a day together and by the end, the 4 girls were jumping in the pool, hand in hand. It was a beautiful thing to see my girls make friends so easy, without words!
Ashley Ponder Richards says
One of my favorite summer memories was when I was in college and several of us decided to take a spontaneous trip to go canoeing. It was so much fun because there were no plans-we just went and had a wonderful time.
Valerie says
My favorite memory of this summer is swimming with my 4 yo daughter at the resort pool near Disney World. Sure, the Magic Kingdom was nice, but I truly enjoyed towing my daughter around on my back (we dubbed these “dolphin rides”).

I have great memories of going to hot, hot Kansas every summer to visit both sets of great grandparents. They lived in a teeny tiny little town where most of the residents were related to us. We’d save our money ahead of time and visit the only grocery store in town where they had an awesome penny candy selection. Best of all was getting to stay at my grandma Craft’s house (we had to take turns, there were 4 of us and she had a tiny house). She was always so loving. We played chinese checkers and she would make us rootbeer floats.
Janeane Davis says
My favorite memory so far this summer is my daughter’s face when she told me she was not afraid of trucks anymore. She had been an accident earlier in the year so this was an amazing thing. She was so happy, so smiling and so confident when she told me, it was a wonderful sight.
Carrie Higgins says
Janeane, that makes me so so happy for you. I can’t imagine how traumatizing that accident was, and I’m cheering her on as she works through those feelings. You just made my heart sing.
Doreen says
My son is back from college this summer. When he’s not working as an intern at a local theater, he’s playing games on-line with friends. Needless to say, it’s hard to spend some quality time with him now that he’s 20! My favorite memories so far are painting the living room with him, and sharing a funny YouTube clip. I can’t remember the last time we all laughed at the same joke!

My birthday is in the summer so I have a lot of happy childhood summer memories associated with my birthday and family vacations. But so far this year, the best summer memory has to be the mother-daughter trip I took in June with my then 22-month-old daughter. We flew to see my parents in Central Illinois. We hadn’t seen them since Christmas, and I just love seeing them love my daughter. I sure do wish we lived closer, but this way I don’t take for granted any moment we’re all together.

My best memory from this summer will be taking my 3YO daughter to Santa’s Land in Cherokee,NC. My parents took me for my first visit when I was her age so it was incredibly nostalgic for me to take my own child. Even better was the fact that the park had been totally maintained exactly as I remembered it from 1976. Claire had the best time and I loved walking down memory lane with her.
Carrie Higgins says
We have a similar spot in New Hampshire, now I really want to go and see if it’s the same as I remember! 😉

My daughters fifth birthday. The big five. The age of kindergarten, learning to read, and ride bikes. It was pretty emotional for this mommy! But her party was a big hit, she dressed up like Merida from Brave, and her daddy and I made her a brave cake together. All of it was very memorable, and tons of fun! 🙂
Carrie Higgins says
My daughter had a Rapunzel birthday this month, so I can ‘ditto’ how memorable this can be!

Fave summer memories: hanging out by the pool as a teenager and having ennnndless hours to read mags, then get hot and jump in the water, then get back out and read more mags in the sun. AAHHHHH to have no responsibilities. Just for a day. 🙂
