It’s been awhile since I hit the thrift shops for a little {thrifty} retail therapy. I love finding new uses for old things, and it’s the creative outlet this stay-at-home mama needs. This week, I visited not one but TWO thrift shops since they were on my route home anyways. I didn’t get any major scores (and, I don’t have room for much else in my home) but did find a few small things that made it worthwhile.
First was this picnic basket, priced at $5 but they were having a storewide 35% off sale. As I was checking out, a woman came up and said: “you paid $5? for THIS?” two times and pointed at my basket. I thought she was criticizing me, so I countered with: “but it’s only $3.75 on sale!” to which she replied: “I can’t believe you got it for that cheap– it’s beautiful!” Oooops, guess she thought it was a good deal:
Envisioning picnics in the park with Noodle, or using it as a basket to transport toys outdoors to the backyard, I had to buy it. What did I {unceremoniously} use it for?
Yes, folks, this basket now hold TP in the bathroom. Sue me.
And I could not resist a $2 Janie and Jack top or $2 Children’s Place jeans for Noodle. They are in perfect condition and will be great for autumn:
Then, just two days after begging my mom not to buy us any more books (longtime blog readers know I have an addiction to children’s books– we have them in at least 6 places in our home plus tubs of then in the basement. Chalk it up to an occupational hazard of being a school librarian…) I came across these gems. I’m very selective when buying books, but could not pass these up:
There you have it, my thrifty retail therapy for the week. I know I need to reduce the amount of stuff in my house– I hate clutter– but sometimes I just can’t resist a great deal! Did you find any good deals out there this week?
