Here’s a little tablescape I whipped up using my new DIY Plate Chargers. I realize it’s not the most romantic scene when photographed during the daylight… with a few more candles and dimmed lights it will be a little more cozy.
First, I moved the LOVE letters from our mantel to the table. I have a few different cake stands and raised candy dishes, so I set the letters up there.
I added a few river rocks to the mix to be different. It was symbolic, as my husband has certainly been “my rock” these past few years. {cue the “aaawwwwww”… or “gag me” from some of you I’m sure!}
The place setting is our wedding china (“awwwww/ gag”) with Crate and Barrel silverware. The champagne flutes are Vera Wang and were a wedding gift. I wish I had a better photo of them. They are super-cute in person.
Those red and white paper napkins? $1.99 at Tuesday Morning! I thought they’d be nice at Christmas as well. I used white ribbon with red rick rack over it as napkin holders.
But the most important thing about the tablescape is missing. The food. Here’s the menu, but we’ll see if I can pull it off with the entire region in a state of emergency due to the massive amount of snow currently falling outside my window. We could reach 3 feet on the ground by tomorrow!
Wanna take bets on how much I can actually get on the table by Sunday? Quite frankly I’d be happy just to have the key lime pie. I seriously don’t want to brave the grocery store any more. I was lucky to get out unscathed this morning– with a yummy Starbucks drink in hand to boot. But it was close. Those lines were getting long and certain sections were looking scarce. I would NOT have wanted to be there any later in the day!

Perfect setting for a very romantic Valentine’s Dinner. As for the Key Lime juice I have seen it in grocery stores bottled but I don’t think the flavor is as nice as fresh squeezed Key limes.
Your blog is fantastic, like something out of a Beautiful Homes magazine. 🙂
Found you through an etsy forums thread about blog followers. I can’t resist following your lovely blog, hope you might check mine out.

Very nice. That is what Valentines is all about showing how much you love someone from the heart and not in a box from the store. You have a lovely table!

Hi, went online and googled Key Limes…they are the same as Mexican Limes and Bartenders’ Limes, which are all fairly small limes.
I would think that in a pinch you could even use just regular limes, though I don’t know if the Key-Mexican-Bartenders limes are sweeter or more acidic than regular limes. One article said they were more acidic or sour, but couldn’t find anything else to back up that claim .

Hi! I have been scouring the Internet for a recipe close to the key lime pie served at the dolphin den in the outer banks. My family has had a house down there for 30+ years and while I can’t say the seafood is the best we go and buy a whole pie for the week every year. It is my absolute favorite and have thought of ordering one and shipping it here to Ohio….I couldn’t seem to find your recipe on here? Maybe I’m missing it? I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

Hi, I don’t have the recipe for the Dolphin Den key lime pie (BOY do I wish I did, I love that pie!) Not sure how you got to my blog from that search, but I love the DD’s pie and agree their seafood has seen better days. 🙂 We love Avon as well!
