… but it can buy this:
and this:
…and I made enough at my yard sale to buy both.
But will I spend, or will I save?
The whole point of having a yard sale is to get rid of clutter while making a buck (or 700 of them), so buying more with that money doesn’t seem right. Dave Ramsey would say to pay down debt or invest it, but we don’t have much debt apart from a mortgage so investing it might be the best bet.
Or perhaps investing it in a large purchase, like, I don’t know, a dining room table. Aaaaannnnd a duvet cover.
Whatever we decide to do with the cash, it was well worth the hard work. I think the declutter bug also bit my husband. The day after the sale, I found him pulling everything out of his closet and “redistributing”. Usually I have to force him to do that, standing there like a drill sergeant while he reluctantly tosses things into each pile. This time he did it all on his own, and in the end I had a pile to donate, a pile to launder, a pile to dry clean, and about 3,476 hangers. Okay, not that many hangers but close to it. Home Skillet even hung all his ties on a special rack I got last month just for that purpose. Without a single push from me. **LOVE HIM!**

Wow! $700 is amazing! I can’t wait to hear your tips. We have tons of junk in our basement. I’d use the money to pay debt.

That is exactly what happened to us at our yard sale last month… including the $700 total. That’s too funny. J started going through his things once he saw how much I was getting rid of. And, we didn’t have any large ticket items sell either. I can’t imagine how much we would have made if we had! I ended up listing the big stuff on Craigslist afterward and sold a couple of them.

Holy Cow! $700. That is amazing. How about using the money on a weekend away for you two. That way you aren’t bringing any extra “clutter” into your house.

LOVE the idea of a weekend away. We might put it toward a vacation next summer, since we haven’t paid for an actual vacation in three years!
