Despite the rain this week, I’ve been moving forward with the last few details for the deck makeover. When the weather is nice, we eat alfresco out there every chance we get. With two little ones underfoot it can be a challenge getting everything through the sliding glass doors and onto the table, so I was on the lookout for a utensil caddy and finally found one at Goodwill for a whopping .97 cents:
It’s a little bit country, so that look needs to change to fit with the colors on the deck. I’ll be the first to admit I’m scared of color. I vowed not to spray paint it black, brown, or white (typically my go-to colors). Looking at my brown, green, and tan color scheme on the deck the color copper popped into my head. I went with it and spray painted the basket in a hammered copper finish:
Then wrapped it with green fabric (hemmed with seam tape) and placed copper wire around it for some bling.
Because I’m so fancy, I folded napkins and stuffed them on the bottom of each compartment so the silverware wouldn’t get spray paint or goodness knows what else on them.
Now I have a utensil caddy that matches but isn’t too matchy-matchy for our summer alfresco dining!
While we are on the subject, does anyone else have an napkin obsession? It’s almost as bad as my fabric collecting. Apparently I have a thing for patterns.
If I rip the fabric and wire off and spray paint it black next summer don’t hate. I tried to inject some color, I really did!
Linking this up to Thrifty Decor Chick’s Spray Paint Party… don’t know why I’m even bothering, since my little project has nothing on the amazingness to be found over there… but gotta represent, I guess! Go check it out!

So cute. Now I want one. This rain(and chilly temps)has been such a drag. I’m so tired of seeing 97% chance of rain everyday.

Love it! The color is great, very nature-like! The wire wrap really makes it finished looking! I may have to copy this. 🙂
