25 Delicious Soup Recipes to Warm You Up on a Cold Day

My favorite thing to make all fall and winter is a big ol’ pot of soup or stew. I’ll typically make a big batch on Sunday for dinner, and then eat it for lunch all week. I never get tired of it as long as I’m rotating recipes, and my family likes this cozy meal option paired with cornbread or fresh bread from their favorite bakery. I’ve found eating soup is a delicious way to eat my veggies in each day AND it’s a meal option that keeps me full and my belly happy all day long… as long as I swap out the heavy cream for non-dairy options like using coconut cream or pureed squash instead. #mybellyhatesdairy

What kitchen tools do you need to make soup?

In terms of kitchen tools for making soup, a great chef’s knife and sturdy cutting board make cutting and chopping ingredients a breeze. A chef’s bench scraper is always handy but optional.

If you’re not using a slowcooker or Instant Pot (see below), then having a great stockpot or heavy duty dutch oven will be important.

Which appliances are best for making easy and delicious soup?

I’ve found that the Instant Pot and Crockpot are both powerhouses when it comes to making soup. Recently I’ve been using my Instant Pot more than my slowcooker because it will saute the veggies and cook the soup in the same pot, which saves so much time and reduces dirty dishes!

This Instant Pot is most similar to the one I personally use and love (I have a slightly older version). My Crockpot is over a decade old now, but if I had to replace it I’d probably purchase this slowcooker.

If you like creamed soups, having an immersion blender is a must. Bonus: you can use it for smoothies in the summer!
