Here’s where I’ve been the last few hours. In a nest on the couch.
Something besides the turkey was roasting over Thanksgiving, apparently. My poor little nephew came down with a fever, and despite all our best disinfection strategies the germs brewed and roasted and now his mom, my dad, and I are all sick. Upper respiratory infection type sick. Of course, I didn’t realize this until my husband left for a business trip to the west coast, and by the time he got back I could barely move.
Baby Bee has a fever and Noodle hasn’t kept much down today, so I think the illness continues to roast in the house here. Knowing how horrible I feel, I can not believe the little ones will have to endure this as well.
That’s the worst part of the whole thing, and quite honestly it reduced me to tears today. The kids were so wonderful and angelic while my husband was traveling, and I had no choice but to care for them while I was under the weather. Now they are getting sick. Breaks my heart.
Needless to say, the Christmas tree and decorating I had been gearing up for will have to wait. Why is it that just when things are finally returning to normal, life happens and dashes all hope of us ever catching up? Forget the gifts I still need to buy and boxes of decorations and listening to Christmas carols. All I want for Christmas is for my kids not to get sick.
My husband came home this morning at 8AM on the red eye and crawled into bed with Noodle to say hi to her. Without even opening her eyes, she rolled over, snuggled in, and said, “daddy’s here”. Oh my goodness, melts my {stuffy and exhausted} heart!
Thank goodness. Daddy’s home!
