I’ve been thinking about starting a weekly “linky” party here at Making Lemonade. I’m a frequent visitor to many of your blogs and know the genius things you are doing over there. A linky party would give everyone a chance to strut their stuff!
Here’s the dilemma: what type of party should it be? I have lots of ideas but need feedback on what would be well received, what’s missing out there in blogland, and what type of “party” my readers would like to read and of course participate in.
Reason #1: It would help this blog grow, and give you a say in the direction of that growth!
Reason #2: I’m posting a giveaway with a $25 gift card to Walmart next week, and participating in this would earn you THREE additional entries!
Here’s the deal. You can either freely comment on this topic with ideas and/or suggestions, OR you can answer the following questions in the comments (please number them so I know which ones you are responding to). Either way gives you those three extra entries as long as you give your honest and informative input!
1. Should the party by general, as in “link up anything you’d like”, or should it be specific (a craft linky, a DIY linky, a makeover linky, personal story linky, etc.) If so, which topic would you be most likely to participate in?
2. What would you think of a “Making Lemonade Monday”, with a rotating category each week (recipes, crafts, makeovers, eco-ideas, etc.)?
3. Would you participate in a weekly giveaway linky? If so, how: by posting giveaways, entering them, or both?
4. Would you like to see me continue the “Really Reusable” series (repurposing household items) and/or the “Simply Organized” series (quick, easy tips on how to organize just about everything)? If I made those linkys, would you link up?
5. Any other ideas, or a clever name? If you suggest a unique idea and/or name and I end up using it, I have a $25 Blockbuster gift card for you!

This is a pretty obvious idea, but you could do something similar to “bla to tada” and call it Taking Lemons, and Making Lemonade. It could be for crafts or recipes that repurposed items.
Just as some feedback, I have a really hard time with the linky parties that change topics periodically.
Good luck! Hope you decide to “go for it.”

For Question two:
I like that idea, with a rotating theme.
More people could participate and there would be different linkers each time.

I’m fairly new to the whole blog world, but this sounds like a great idea.
1) I think the party should be titled. One other suggestions is recipes. With Summer closly approaching I know I am always looking for new, light and fast recipes.
3) I would deffintely participate in weekly giveways….a little incentive never hurt anyone. 🙂
4) I would love for you to continue both sessions, you know how thrifty we can be.
5) What about….”Fresh Squeezed Lemondade” or “The Lemondade Grand Stand” Good luck!
Collections from my Heart says
ok here it is 1) any topic 2) LOVE IT 3) I’d definately participate and also by posting 4) Love your ideas, Im always a reuse this for something else kinda gal and I love to be organized, or try to atleast…
Good luck! I dont know how to link just yet but I would love to learn 🙂

Wel, I kind of lean towards:
“Lemon – Aid”, helpful tips of some sort. Could be parenting, household, kitchen, travel etc.
“Lemonade Stand” for a giveaway linky.
“When life hands you lemons………” for a repurposing linky.

1. I like the idea of a general linky because I don’t think there’s one out there yet (that I know of at least). But, to be honest, I’d probably be more apt to participate in a linky that has a general direction/purpose.
2. I like the name “Making Lemonade Monday”, and a rotating idea would, again, be nice and different.
3. I would definitely participate in a weekly giveaway linky (usually by entering giveaways, but also listing my own – I’ve only done 2 😉
4. I’m not crafty AT ALL, so I probably couldn’t link up to a reuse/repurpose linky. 😛
5. “Lemon Drops” (for “dropping” hints, repurposing, recipes, and other DIY projects)
“Lemonade Link”
“Links to Lemons”

1. I think that people might be more interested in linking up to a category rather than just being general because then when looking at other peoples links they will know what to expect.
2. I think it would be a neat idea to try “Making Lemonade Monday” with a rotating theme, it would give the chance for someone who say dosen’t cook, could link up the next week!
3. I love to enter giveaways in linky’s! I also will link up my own giveaway if I’m having one at the time!
4. I love DIY!

I like the idea of having specific themes – be it from recipes, to personal stories or Do it yourself tips. This somehow gives people something to look forward to and prepare for. I also like giveaway linkys – I love entering contests and linking up my own. As a newbie blogger, I will be interested to learn more about your experience while you were first starting out and tips to improve blog traffic, how you got into reviews and giveaways. Thanks!

1. I’d be more likely to participate in a theme, but what about changing it every week?
2. That sounds like a great idea that would keep readers visiting!
3. I would definitely enter the giveaways.
4. Those sound really interesting!!!
5. The Weekly Squeeze!

I am new to the blog thing, so I’m probably not a huge help, but I can say that I would not be a huge fan of a changing linky party. But, I think that what Money Saving Maine-iac said is really smart. I love her ideas and think that would be really cute on your blog because it would go along nicely with your theme. 🙂
Kacie says
1. I think that it should be more specific. I think when there is no real aim to the linky, it can be a lot to wade through as a reader…
2. I think this is a great idea! Monday seems good because you can get fresh ideas for the week.
3. I might enter, but I don’t post giveaways…yet. My blog is not very big.
4. I am new to your blog, so I haven’t had much experience with your regular features.
5. I like the previous person’s idea of Freshly Squeezed. Freshly Squeezed Fridays might work =)
Frugal Science Gal says
1. I think a general, “link up anything you’d like” is a great idea, but you might lose interest because it is not that organized. I think a constant theme would be nice, but restricting.
2. I love this name! I’m still not sure if the rotating will keep. I know things like Wordless Wednesday is constant so people remember it.
3. I would definitely post my giveaways! And…I OFTEN enter into a couple of giveaways on the lists that I have entered my giveaways on.
4. I’m really not creative so I can’t add much to this.
5. I like the Making Lemonade Monday title. I just usually participate the least in Monday ones because Mondays are so chaotic.
Good Luck with this!

1.) Personally, I like the idea of rotating ideas. One week you could do a gardening theme, the next cheap ideas for vacations, etc. I am not sure where this would leave people like me who have a blogger id and email but not a blog. Is posting a linky mainly for those with blogs and who have blog posts? I am sort of new to the linky world lol.
3. I would participate in a giveaway linky but not posting. Just because I don’t have a blog otherwise I would!
5.) For names: LemonDay, LemonSense, Making Lemonade Monday or Lemonade Giveaway.I am trying to be so clever :D.
Congrats again on your new bundle of joy!

2.)Personally, I like the rotating themes. The name could stay the same because you could always have giveaway linkys up every Monday (for example, if this was the day you chose). The topic you chose to write about each week could be different. It would keep it fresh. I think it would be great to combine a post by you for the theme of the week and have linky up for giveaways by any blog who wants to participate.
3.) I would participate in a weekly giveaway linky by entering but would be unable to post because I currently do not have a blog; otherwise I would.
5.) For name ideas: Lemonade Days, LemonSense, Making Lemonade Mondays. I am trying to be clever :)!
Congrats on your new bundle of joy!

Sorry! I think I posted more than once. Can you delete the first comment? I am a little tired and thought the first comment didn’t go through.
Thanks so much!

I like the idea of having a weekly giveaway link post. I like being able to sit down and enter giveaways all from links on one site. It is also a great way to find other new blogs I may be interested in.

How about a monthly theme. January – crafts, February DIY, ………..June – cheap summer fun, August – back to school cheap to free items. Other ideas: birthday parties, homemade gift ideas, wedding ideas, working at home, etc.

I think that a title would be cool. Also a rotating category would be good.
