Today’s website really needs no introduction. Tens of thousands of you subscribe, follow, or check in with this site already. I, however, had not heard of it until recently (thanks, N!). Once I started following, I realized there was a whole new world out there in terms of savings.
Crystal, the blogger behind Money Saving Mom, publishes coupon match-ups for all the major chains, posts freebies and samples, and gives glimpses into ways her family saves money. Additionally, she encourages her readers to be frugal and generous in their giving, which I very much appreciate. It’s one thing to be cheap, and another to be cheap and stingy. Not all of her methods are a fit for my family’s situation (which Crystal repeatedly reminds her readers), but using her methods I:
- cut my grocery bill by 1/3
- haven’t paid for toothpaste, deodorant, cereal, mouthwash, etc. in MONTHS
- have tried tons of new products, for FREE (this ranges from paint to food to toiletries)
- am not ashamed of my consignment and thrift store shopping
- established a whole new framework for budgeting and saving
I could go on and on, but really, you should just check the blog out for yourself. Unless you already do, in which case you know what I’m talking about!
