Simple Crock Pot Sweet Potato Casserole
If you or your family has a sweet tooth, then they are going to adore this recipe. The sweet potatoes are covered in a tantalizing cinnamon-sugar mixture. As it cooks slowly, the aromas will make everyone ask for dinner!
You add the marshmallows towards the end, so you can keep them off if you prefer less-sweet sweet potatoes (we usually make it half and half, for those who’d prefer not to have the added sweetness.)
How to Choose The Best Crock Pot For Your Casserole
How many people are you going to feed? Make sure your slow cooker is large enough if you are going to feed a large group. If you are going to feed a minimum of 8 people, you should use a 7-quart slow cooker or larger.
The Hamilton Beach 7-Quart Slow Cooker is highly rated and very simple to use. It’s fantastic for large groups and travel. The lid is easy to secure, so it won’t spill or leak.
For something even more high-tech, check out the Crock-Pot 6-Quart digital slow cooker. It has an iStir stirring system that prevents your sweet potatoes from burning or sticking to the bottom or sides. It also has a timer so you can program it to begin at a certain time and be ready for your big meal.

This crockpot sweet potato casserole will be perfect with any other of your favorite Thanksgiving side dishes. Add it with your favorite veggies and salads. It’s a sweet contrast to the salty and savory green bean casserole or fluffy mashed potatoes.
I think this tastes perfect with roasted turkey, but you can make this any other time of year too! Serve it with some tender pork tenderloin or your favorite roasted chicken recipe.
How to Store Crock Pot Sweet Potatoes
Since these sweet potatoes are covered in sugar and marshmallows, I suggest eating them as soon as they are cooked. They will taste the best when they are hot and fresh out of the slow cooker.
If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight food storage container in the refrigerator for up to three days. After about three days, the quality will diminish, and they won’t be as tasty.
Can You Freeze Slow Cooker Sweet Potatoes?
If you want to freeze the slow cooker sweet potatoes, I suggest doing it before you cook them. Chop up the sweet potatoes and coat them in the sugar and butter mixture. Then, place them in a resealable food storage bag and keep them in the freezer for up to 6 months.
When you are ready to cook them, just dump the frozen and sugar-coated sweet potatoes into the slow cooker. Let them cook until they are soft enough to mash, and then add the marshmallows like normal.
There you go! The entire recipe is in the printable recipe card. If you are looking for a dish that is effortless to make among several holiday dishes- it’s this crockpot recipe.
