Fashion Friday: Chic & Wearable Winter Outfits

Happy Friday! What a whirlwind of a month, can you believe Thanksgiving is next week? This time last week I was attending Young Living Beauty School just outside of Park City, Utah. The schedule called for ‘business casual’ dress, and since it’s been awhile since I’ve had to dress business anything I found a few gorgeous pieces to get me not only through the weekend, but also for teaching classes, attending meetings, and the upcoming holidays. Plus I got to wear my favorite traveling outfit, and since it’s travel season for many of you I wanted to share it; plus my FAVORITE BOOTS ARE ON SALE and I want to shout it from the rooftops!
But first, the view from my hotel room in Utah… wow. I had no idea it was this beautiful out here. As you can see, there was snow on the ground and a nice chill in the air, which meant I needed warm yet flexible outfits for the trip (and for the rest of the winter, really).
I wanted to dress in layers for the quick jaunts outside and also having the ability to adjust to the changing indoor temps as well. Plus, comfort was key. Oh, and did I mention I wanted to pack it all on my carry-on? Since I had a 20 minute layover between flights I was nervous about lost luggage so I packed it all in one roll-aboard bag.
Outfit #1: Business Casual
Pale pink is a universally flattering color, and I found this pink open weave sweater by Papillon in a boutique nearby. I haven’t been able to find it online (BOO!), but hopefully it gives you a starting point when looking for sweaters and tops. Go with the pale pink! I layered it over a bodyshaping beige camisole, which blended in nicely. It would look equally flattering over a white tank or a matching pink. These grey Tractr ‘jeans’ look like pants yet were beyond comfortable. Scrunched up over-the-knee boot socks and my ” target=”_blank” rel=”nofollow”>absolute favorite boots allowed me to feel stylish yet comfortable all day long. <—- PSSSSST: BOOTS ARE ON SALE!
Then over top of that was my new favorite thing, this Lilly Pulitzer quilted vest. Isn’t the pattern at the collar beautiful? I’ve found it’s all about the details, and I don’t mind investing in a piece that’s beautifully made and as versatile as this one.
Outfit #2: Casual Chic
For the second day, I wore my favorite pair of very dark jeans (almost black). While they didn’t quite fall under ‘business casual’, I think they worked great for the event as they were chic and more formal due to the dark wash. For my top, I wore a Lucky peasant top over the same beige camisole as the day before. The exact shirt isn’t in stock but this one is close. I didn’t get a full outfit photo but here’s a snapshot where you can see the sleeves (PS- next to me is Kathy Smith, of workout video fame!)
Dressing room photos are the best I can do for now, but these two sweaters are also lovely and currently in heavy rotation. This bold pink sweater is super soft and comfortable. It’s long enough to wear with leggings, as it covers your bottom (it’s tunic length). This is a size small for reference.
And this sweater in blue merchant heather is gorgeous in person; it’s has a turtleneck that will keep me warm this winter for sure. Again, this is a size small for those who are ordering online and want to get a feel for sizing– there’s plenty of room in there! It looks great under a shearling or quilted vest.
Outfit #3: Traveling Days
I was too embarrassed to get a full shot (I need to work on the selfie thing!) but here’s a pic as I was getting ready to board the plane. This Dynamite poncho in tan is amazing. I even got compliments from the flight attendants! It felt like I was snuggled in the comfiest blanket while on the plane. I’ve worn it on 7 flights this month and could not love it more. Layered over Athleta leggings and a light sweater, it’s the perfect outfit for travel. I wore sneakers on the way out there and my feet were killing me, but after a 4-hour flight in ” target=”_blank” rel=”nofollow”>these grey suede wedge boots my feet were feeling no pain– LOVE THEM!!!
If you liked these outfits, here are a few pieces inspired by them! Please note that the items in the gallery below may not be the exact items in my photos above; for those links, see the written descriptions (I’ve linked to the exact pieces where available).
Have a wonderful weekend everyone! Would love to hear what chic and comfortable pieces are making their way into your wardrobe this season.
