How to Hang a Basket Wall {15 Min. Decor, Day 10}

Here’s a quick idea that will fill an entire wall and change the feeling of the room– hang a wall of large, flat baskets! Believe it or not, they aren’t hard to find and are less expensive than you might think. In fact, this large basket was only $14 on sale at Homegoods– and it’s HUGE. I’d actually love to hang some Instagram prints on it, wouldn’t it be perfect for that?
The other baskets came from various sources, most of them from thrift stores. They’re a dime a dozen at the thrift, and come in all shapes, shades, and sizes. In fact, this entire basket wall cost just $16.80! The round basket was from mother-in-law, the small tribal one from my mom, and I even hung an antique lid that had fallen off a basket from my husband’s grandmother. Keepin’ it in the fam, y’all.
This beauty comes from my mom’s travels in South America when she and my father lived there– though I can’t remember if it was from Venezuela or Columbia? Panama, maybe? I’ve always loved it, and when she gave it to me on my last trip home I may have squealed like a little girl. 🙂
PERU! It’s from Peru, I think?
The bedspread in our guest room is pretty bright (as are the walls), so the neutral baskets allow the other colors to sing while adding texture and interest to the wall.
As you can see, they don’t interfere with the bedspread in terms of sleeping. None have fallen thus far, and they’ve been up for months. AND I HAVE A 3-YEAR-OLD BOY THAT LOVES TO JUMP ON THIS BED, thelittlemonkey.
How to Hang Baskets on the Wall
Hanging them is simple. Like, 15 minutes simple. As in, this is probably TOO SIMPLE.
Nail them into the wall.
That’s it.
I actually placed the nail between the weaves in a good spot to hold up the basket, then hammered it in. When you step back, you actually don’t see the nails. Pretty much.
If you have a basket that’s of nice quality or an heirloom, simply use a loop to hang it instead so you don’t harm it.
Get fancy and overlap them; it adds interest. It’s super complicated:
nail + hammer = hang on wall
Okay. Not so complicated.
Keep your eyes open at stores like HomeGoods, TJ Maxx, and thrift stores and you’ll have a flat basket collection in no time.
Another 15 minute decorating idea that’s only slightly off the wall. Hee, hee. 😉
