EASY DOUGHNUTS IN UNDER 15 MINUTES! Did that get your attention? 😉 A few years ago I posted a recipe for how to make ‘cheater’ donuts, using the method I learned in 7th grade. It was a popular post and I thought it would make a cute video. So the Making Lemonade team got on it and they turned this recipe into a how-to!
This makes a fun afterschool or brunch treat, and the kids love how they can ‘help’ by poking holes and doing the shaking. We usually shake them in a paper bag but tupperware works too. Here you go:
I typically fry mine just a tad bit longer than depicted in the video so the center is golden brown as well. These are so yummy and everyone loves this special (and quick) treat.

On another note, has anyone used an air fryer? We tossed our Fry Daddy years ago and I don’t make much fried food, but my husband contends that now we live in the south it might be time to get a fryer. The air fryer looks better than traditional fryers because it uses less fat, but I’m not sure how the food tastes. Would love to hear your thoughts, and if you’ve make these doughnuts in an air fryer be sure to let me know!

I also learned about these donuts in Home-Ec in 1958 (dead giveaway on MY age!) but our teacher taught us to cut the raw donuts in fourths – they fry faster and are fun to toss into your mouth. One can made 40 donut bites. I think they come in 8-count now. I was so proud to show my mother how to make them. She’d never bought canned biscuits before. Powdered sugar is good too.
