You know what’s terrifying? Glancing at the clock and realizing you have under an hour to whip up a treat for that evening’s Halloween party. Don’t call Ghostbusters, I have the perfect solution– Monster Mash Brownies! These Halloween brownies use a boxed brownie mix so the hard work is already done for you. Monster Mash brownies couldn’t be easier to make and the results are as delicious as they are impressive– all thanks to a little brownie mix hack magic.
My kids eyes popped out of their heads when they saw these Halloween treats, and the best part was that the mix of candies made them super yummy too.
They’re a fantastic treat to whip up for Halloween parties or to feed a crowd if you have guests around Halloween! These do contain peanut butter cups so just be sure that if you serve them at parties no one has an allergy.
How to Make Monster Mash Halloween Brownies
Here’s a quick video to show the process, and detailed ingredients and directions are below.
Monster Mash Halloween Brownie Recipe
The instructions are easy. I hit up the Halloween aisle at Target and found these goodies.
Use any boxed brownie mix (this one was on sale, so it’s what I used.)
Step 1: Line your brownie pan with parchment paper to make removing them easy. Mix brownies according to the instructions on the box and fill the pan. Bake for a few minutes until you notice it about to go from liquid to solid.
Step 2: Add a few Reeses Peanut Butter cups on top and push into the mix until they are embedded. You can skip this step if nut allergies are an issue.
Step 3: Continue baking according to package directions, but take out of the oven 5 minutes early. The brownies will be almost cooked but still a teeny bit soft. Remove from the oven and carefully push the candy pieces into the top of the brownies.
Step 4: Place back in the oven and bake for 5 more minutes, keeping a careful eye so the candy doesn’t totally melt. A little melting is okay, it adds to the gooey ‘Monster Mash’ look.
Step 5: Remove from oven and let cool. That’s the hardest part, WAITING!
But it’s so so soooooooo worth it.
