The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is a popular way to get everything from luxury items to wardrobe basics at a deep discount from one of the best retailers out there. With a generous return policy, free shipping, and incredibly discounted sale prices, there’s a reason the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is the most highly anticipated shopping event of the summer season!

When I tell people my favorite store is Nordstrom because of the free shipping, free returns, and excellent return policy I always hear the same feedback: shopping there can feel so overwhelming. I used to feel that way too, until I found my favorite brands and figured out how to shop the Anniversary Sale like a pro. Now I navigate it easily, save tons of money in the process, and want to help you do the same!
You may have a love/hate relationship with the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. On one hand, it really is the best time to scoop up fantastic deals and save BIG on splurges like boots and handbags.
On the other, it’s an event over-hyped by influencers and it feels like everyone is sharing the same 5 items. Which means they sell out FAST. Sometimes they’re restocked, and sometimes not. Plus, the way Nordstrom structures the sale they give early access depending on your level. Icon level cardholders get first dibs, but to achieve this status they’ve spend $15,000 or more during the calendar year.
2021 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Shopping Dates
Note that the ‘Influencer’ level is open to anyone who is a cardholder. I wish they’d change that wording because some people think it’s only open to those with a blog or large social media following. Nope, you just need to have the Nordstrom Card to qualify for that level.
I get it, the sale can feel over-hyped. As I always recommend with everything in life, go with your gut, your budget, and your values. The truth for me is that I just don’t need much this year. As a work-from-home mama, I dress comfy with a few key pieces for going out or Zoom meetings. That’s what I feel best focusing on this year, how about you? What are your wardrobe needs this year?
Add to Wishlist
The BEST thing that Nordstrom did was add a Wish List feature. You can go in right now and put everything on your Wishlist and then easily add to cart when the sale opens for you. Note that items really do go FAST, so you might not get everything you want. My advice? Keep checking back because they may add more stock throughout the sale. That’s why the wishlist is a BOMB addition to the sale shopping!
Personally, I love the Anniversary Sale. It’s the one time a year I splurge on a new handbag or pair of great boots and jeans and feel zero guilt because they’re so heavily discounted (often by hundreds of dollars.) This year, I’m not as thrilled with the fun clothing options as I am the basics. My favorite socks are on sale (which sounds silly to be excited about, but they’re pricey so this is big for me!) and also my favorite bras– both the comfy ones from this brand and the best strapless bra out there.

My Top Favorites at the Sale
This blanket. My kids fight over the one we got last year, so for under $25 I’m getting a few more in different colors!
These NEVER go on sale and yet are my favorite socks ever, so I’m scooping them up.
Each year I scoop up a few pairs of jeans, and it looks like these will be super popular (and I love the style!)
These have amazing reviews and my guess is they’ll be one of the big sellers this year since they’re stylish, comfy, AND $60 off the regular price.
I’m getting this North Face jacket, the price is great and it’s time for me to try a new style (my last coat was from the sale many years ago and it’s a perennial fave.)
I’m hoping to scoop up these flats if they stay in stock; they’d look great with jeans or with workwear. I’m just not sure which color to get?
If I didn’t already own this necklace I’d get it again… each time I wear it, I get compliments! It’s so chic and makes a great gift too.
I already have this top in several colors otherwise I’d get it again. I do a little font tuck and it’s perfect for date nights or hanging out with friends.

The sale is the perfect chance to build your core wardrobe, handbags included. My core handbag collection includes a tote, a cross-body, a clutch, and an everyday handbag. Also, a blanket scarf and great pair of sunglasses are a must to finish off your outfit. Lots of great choices below!
Best Jeans & Pants at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale
Apparently skinny jeans are OUT according to Gen Z, but since I’m Gen X, I don’t care. You can pry my skinny jeans from my side-part loving hands. With that being said, I’m open to trying new styles so I’ve mixed them in below. LONG LIVE SKINNY JEANS, THO!
Best Tops and Outerwear at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale
With tops, I go simple and dress up with accessories. I have several versions of the Vince Camuto silk tank, and basically any dressy tank that’s on the Nordstrom site haha! I can’t do puffy sleeves or frills because I’m large chested so those draw attention to that area, but if I COULD wear them, I’d snap up the two puffy/frilly tops below in a heartbeat.
Best Lingerie and Pajamas at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale
I live in the Moonlight sleep shirt. I’ve tried the pajama version but the pants run long (I’m 5’4) but I reach for the sleep shirt any time it comes through my clean laundry! Also, I can’t believe I’m putting this on the internet but you guys, if you have a large chest then this is the best strapless bra out there. I’m 34DD and it hold everything up, which is quite a feat!
Best Activewear/ Loungewear at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale
This is what I live in most of the year– Zella tanks, shirts, and leggings. I’m excited to try the joggers, they have a high rating and looks so cozy for fall and winter.
