My husband is a tough one to shop for when it comes to holiday gifts. Basically he loves anything emblazoned with his favorite team and most especially if it’s fleece, but just how many fleecy Notre Dame shirts can one own? (apparently, a lot) Each year I start planning early for the hard-to-gift man, and here’s what’s on my shopping list for my husband this year!
MONEY SAVING TIP: as always, don’t forget to go through Ebates if you’re doing any online shopping! You will EARN money for shopping at many online retailers, no questions asked. You can refer friends to earn even more cash back as I just did if you signed up through my link. 😉 I’ve also provided links to several items on Amazon at the bottom of this post which won’t cost you an extra cent to use but will however help offset the cost of running this site. Thank you!
Ryobi ONE+ Drill and Impact Driver Kit: When our old cordless screwdriver and drill went kaput, we went searching for another option and the Ryobi One+ one came highly recommended. My friends at Ryobi sent one for review, and we concur it’s truly versatile and a top-notch gift for both the serious DIYer and the home handyman (or woman). My husband and I will be fighting over dibs on this one for awhile. Plus our home to-do list is about to get annihilated.
iPhone Windshield/ Dashboard Holder: Updating our outdated GPS has become a pain, so on recent roadtrips we’ve just been using Google Maps on our iPhones. I think this iPhone holder will really come in handy to keep our phones in the vest position to use for navigating and also handy for hands-free talking while my husband is on conference calls. C’mon, safety is SEXY, right?
West Coast IPA Brewing Kit: My husband is a beer guy, more specifically an IPA beer guy. We’ve tried other home brewing kits without much luck, but this one has good reviews PLUS quality ingredients (plus, WEST COAST) so it’s definitely going under the tree this year!
Cheese of the Month Club: Okay, this is a little indulgent for something you can find at your local artisan cheese store, but for a cheese lover this novel idea would be totally splurge-worthy. Not a cheese lover? I’ve seen everything-of-the-month clubs out there from cigars to beer to salsas to BACON. Bacon of the month, people!
The Latest John Grisham: Here’s how it works. My mother-in-law gets my husband the newest John Grisham book each Christmas (and will usually pre-read it first, which I think is awesome). Then he stays up until 2AM each night of Christmas vacation reading it. A few months later I’ll pick it up and do the same, minus the vacation part. Then my parents come to visit and my dad will give it a read, after which I donate it to the thrift store. Which means in under a year, that book will have 5+ readers. I’d say that’s a good deal, right? You almost can’t go wrong with a Grisham. Even when it’s not his best, you still learn a lot and it’s interesting at least. His latest is Gray Mountain, I’m hoping he finds this in his stocking this year.
Shutran: My husband has totally gotten on board with the essential oils, which is ironic, considering his job is to run clinical trials for pharmaceutical companies. REALLY. I’d like to thank him for his support with this very special blend that can be worn as a cologne. What better way to celebrate the success of our growing Young Living business then try one of it’s most unique products? Plus, I hear it works wonders. 😉 (if you’re interested in Young Living and essential oils, here’s how to sign up and get them in your hands for yourself!)
A GREAT Pair of Sunglasses: This is the year to get him a really good pair of shades. Usually he gets by with whichever gas station special he picks up to replace his previous pair of gas station special sunglasses. When I was at Social Media on the Sand, I met the founder of Iristocracy and she demonstrated their awesome virtual try-on technology. I’m thinking the Ray Ban aviators are going to be the winner, but thankfully he can try them on virtually at home before the splurge to make sure it’s the right style for his face.
Moscow Mule brass mug: Both copper and Moscow Mules are currently on trend, but truly it’s a classic style that’s fun to use AND easy on the eyes. Even if you use them for other drinks, you can’t go wrong with the Moscow Mule! Gift it with a top-shelf vodka and it’ll really be a favorite this year.

Thanks so much for the suggestion about the brewing kit – I just bought it for my husband after reading about it here. He loves IPAs and is from the West Coast, so it is perfect. AND – the hops are from Yakima, which is the town where he grew up (we visited hops fields when we were there last summer). I can’t imagine a more appropriate gift. Also – I have a friend who has bought both the Murray’s cheese AND a bacon of the month club, and has nothing but good things to say about them. Great suggestions, Carrie!

THIS MAKES ME SO HAPPY, it’s Fresh Vintage approved! After I published the post I wondered if the ideas were oddly specific, but I should have known that fellow IPA, cheese, and bacon lovers would appreciate it. 🙂 I’ll expect to sample a bottle of your homebrew at the next Clover Market.
