Summer Smoothie Station (Kitchen Organization Idea)

One of my post-vacation traditions is a week-long detox from all the food naughtiness inherent in a family trip.  A slice of key lime pie, daily snacking, fudge sampling and wine drinking takes it’s toll– and nothing fixes that like a healthy fruit/veggie cleanse.  As I pulled out the blender to prepare, I realized that is was summertime, which means smoothie season– why not pretty it up and keep it out for easy smoothies all summer long?

I snagged my lacquer tray from the dining room, grabbed a few ingredients, gathered a few extras and voila: SMOOTHIE STATION.

Making my favorite smoothies just got much easier with everything within arms reach.

You guys shared some great ingredient ideas in the comments of my Orange Pomegranate Smoothie post– if you are a smoothie fan, be sure to check it out!  One of the ideas was to add flax seeds, so I’ve got that covered now.

I’m going to get my blogging license revoked for not having a cute chalkboard label wrapped in baker’s twine on that jar, but oh well.  I know what’s in there. 😉

Here’s the rest of the goodies on the tray:

  • Magic Bullet blender
  • glasses
  • stripey summer straws
  • bananas
  • honey
  • flax seed and scooper
  • small cutting board/knife

Being smoothie addicts, we stock ice, greek yogurt, and fruit at all times so those are in the freezer and fridge.  All I have to do is grab what we’re in the mood for that day, add it to the blender, and… YUM.

Ready for a double secret tip?  Sometimes I sneak spinach into the smoothies.  You can’t taste it, and if you use dark berries is covers of the green tint, pinky swear.  Here’s a blueberry/banana/mango/spinach smoothie progression:

See?  Super sneaky healthy treats!  There’s also a tad bit of almond milk and flax seed in there.

Simple.  Healthy.  Delicious.  Sounds like the perfect combination!

In the interest of keeping it real, please note the tray originally had three bananas on it.  One of the hazards of photographing projects with your kids in the background is having little hands testing out the goods.

Ya’ know, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

What are your favorite smoothie ingredients?  Anyone else addicted to this healthy, delicious treat?
