DIY Bling Wash (Natural Jewelry Cleaner)

There’s a lot of recipes for homemade jewelry cleaners out there on the internets, my friends. DON’T BE FOOLED. Some are extremely harsh and abrasive and involve ingredients that can actually harm your precious jewelry! Take the advice of the security lady at TSA when I tossed my new engagement ring into the plastic x-ray bin because I was a newbie at traveling with it, “Girl, don’t do that! You’ve worked too hard to earn it!” Raging sexism aside, whether your jewelry came from Walmart or Tiffanys, it’s too darn precious to mix with things like baking soda and chemicals. This DIY jewelry cleaner has natural ingredients and will put that shine back in your bling with very little effort on your part.
These mini-mason jars are the perfect size for the cleaner. One of my favorite tricks is to make up a batch of these for my essential oil classes or make-and-takes, and have each guest drop their rings inside before we start and pull them out shiny and new at the end. Then they take their jar home to use a few times before replenishing.
Dirty rings go in…
… and come out super sparkly!
I used Young Living products in the cleaner because I trust them. You can try other brands but I can’t guarantee they will work as well!
Homemade Jewelry Cleaner
Ingredients:
- Small Jar
- Thieves Cleaner
- Thieves Dish Soap
- Distilled water
- Witch Hazel
Directions:
Add in the Thieves cleaner, Thieves dish soap, and witch hazel. Top off with distilled water. Mix, drop in your rings, soak for about an hour. When you take them out get in the nooks and crannies with a soft brush (I used the brush that came in my Aria diffuser, ha!) and rinse over a bowl. Make sure not to do this over an open drain or vent… I almost lost my rings down the A/C vent in my kitchen when photographing this, whoops!
That’s it. Your bling is now Brand. Spankin’. New.
Now to relive the memory of me tossing my ring into the TSA bucket as we rushed to not miss our first flight as an engaged couple. Ahhhh… those were the days.
