A few years ago I fell in love with a vintage cracker jar, and unsure what to do with it I filled it with faux lemons and stuck in on my kitchen shelf. Which is apparently where it was meant to be, because it’s been home there ever since. 😉
It ended up being one of my favorite accessories in my home, not surprising for a lemon lover like me. 😉 Such a small thing, but everyone asks about my lemons! It’s not rocket science, but here’s how you can replicate the look with your style in mind:
First, check out your personal style board. What colors do you love? Anything jump out that you could display? My obvious choice was lemons, but you might like limes, mini-pumpkins, acorns, or feathers. My mom has an artistic eye, here’s what I spotted in her home over the weekend:
Just go for faux when it comes to things like fruit; lemons don’t last under glass for even one day.
Then grab a cracker jar. If you don’t have a vintage cracker jar on hand, I’ve seen them at Walmart and also on Amazon (affiliate link). Jazz it up by spray painting the lid a favorite color– my vintage jar has a green lid, but it would look fab in a kicky turquoise or purple.
The bright yellow lemons add a pop of color to the open shelving in our kitchen. It’s fresh. Kinda like me.
And because I can’t get enough, whenever I see a bag of real lemons on sale I buy them and place them in a footed bowl I got at the Crate & Barrel outlet. They look pretty and we use every last drop of them!

Such a great way to display a collection and not have them sit in a drawer or box somewhere!

I love your kitchen shelves! Everything looks fun & fresh – I love your bacon sign, too. So cute! We are hoping to move into a new home in a couple months & I am looking forward to being able to decorate again. Our current home is just too small for that. I am tucking away the ideas in this series until then & looking forward to seeing the rest! 🙂

I’m so glad you love the ideas! That’s why I love Pinterest; the ability to tuck away ideas until you have the time and space to do them. 😉

Hi, it was a wedding present over 12 years ago, sorry I don’t have a source.
