Metallics week continues alongside the Olympics as we explore gorgeous ways to use your favorite metals in home decor. We started with 5 tips for using metallics at home, and are moving right along with a few designs boards full of inspiration no matter which metallic sheen you most cherish.

I’ll admit the design boards below contain items mostly out of my price range. However, it’s so important to train your eye to high end decor so you know when to scoop it up on sale or when you see it as thrift stores. That’s why scouting out the expensive stuff is never a waste of time. Plus, I know you– and YOU could get creative and knock-off many of these items yourself for a fraction of the cost.

GO FOR THE GOLD… HOME DECOR

We all know gold is HOT in home decor right now.  Here’s some fun ways to glam up your home using this trendy metal– see any you could DIY yourself, or ones that are splurge-worthy?

STARRING… SILVER!

Silver was the metal of choice until gold bumped it out of the way. That being said, it’s still beautiful and there’s no need to spraypaint all your silver away. Silver plays as a neutral too, so it highlights your favorite accent colors as well. Check out this gorgeous silver bedroom:

If you want to stay on trend, go for mercury glass or a mirrored look. Both are modern ways to use silver, and look great when mixed with other metals as well. Here’s a design board highlighting ways to use silver in your home:

WARM UP WITH BRONZE (AND COPPER, TOO)

Two other contenders this year are bronze and copper, in all their forms. They both can look so very different. Bronze can be moody and dark as oil rubbed bronze, or spiffed up to glow. Copper can be super shiny and bold all polished up, or with a green patina or verdigris that’s so ‘old money’ and fabulous.

Plus, I might have a teeny Downton Abbey obsession so copper plays along with that. Carson would totes approve.

Here’s some copper and brass finds you spark your imagination, in their many various forms:

Remember what I said about training your eye? And see that bronze horse right there? It’s $6,928 according to Polyvore. My thrift store version in the photo below, behind the gold hippos? FOUR DOLLARS. And you’ll hear about those hippos tomorrow. 🙂  My husband always loves to hear things like, “look, honey, I just saved $6,917!” when I plop a thrift store bag onto the table.

See, time browsing high-end decor is never wasted if it’s something you love.

Neither is thrifting.

That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it.

Here they are all together, one happy Olympic medal (metal) family.
