Valentine’s Day.
Since college, none of my friends can wear red and pink together. It’s our tribute to a dear friend’s memory, because she detested that color combination. To this day, we can’t spot red and pink without thinking of her! This leaves me on a hunt for pretty Valentines devoid of that color combo. Thankfully Pear Tree Greetings has me covered, with gorgeous Valentine’s Day photo cards to totally keep-worthy classroom Valentines. At first I browsed the photo cards, thinking one of these would be stunning:
Until Noodle climbed onto my lap and spotted this owl. SOLD.
I tried to get her to look at some of the other kid’s Valentine’s Day cards because they are so (for lack of a better word) cool. From coloring cards to paper airplanes, I was hooked. Here’s a sampling of a few of the ‘action’ cards that offer an activity or a special feature:

But Noodle knew what she wanted and what she wanted was pink owls. Pink owls it is, then! And what lovely owls they will be, personalized with her name.
Right now, Pear Tree Greetings is offering a free printable paper chain. If you’re looking for a fun activity for the kids that encourages fine motor skills, this is it. Personalize it with numbers for a Valentine’s Day countdown chain. Teachers can make them with the class, with each student adding their name. Challenge kids to arrange the links in a pattern of their choosing. Surprise someone in a nursing home with the colorful decoration to brighten their room. So many possibilities.
We’re putting ours together today. I’m going to let the pink/red color combo slide because the chain is too stinkin’ cute not to make. But that will be the extent of our pink and red color combining this month, I pinky swear! Of course, if Noodle has anything to do with it I’m sure our home would be covered in pink from top to bottom. She’s a Pinkalicious girl for sure.
Who do you know that could use a little Valentine’s Day love?
Share your fun ideas for the paper chain!
