When I first stumbled upon Clean Mama, it was through a link to a post about ways to go paperless in the kitchen. I was curious– and sure enough, Clean Mama had some simple and beautiful strategies for easily achieving this goal.
source: Clean Mama |
I was hooked and began following her blog. Pearls of wisdom like her cleaning schedule and strategies for tackling laundry rocked my world. When I first read she does one load of laundry a day, I thought I could never pull that off. My washer/dryer is in the basement, so I typically do all my laundry over the weekend. You know what I end up with when I do that? 6 baskets of laundry waiting to be folded!
Even if I do find time to fold them, they sit in my dining room until I can haul all 6 baskets up another flight of stairs and actually put all those clothes away. Now I do Noodle and Bee’s laundry separately instead of sorting them into darks, lights, and whites which allows them to stay in one basket each. Folding and putting them away is a cinch since they are already sorted by which child they belong to.
Yeah, the “one load a day” thing totally revolutionized my life. So easy, so manageable. Love that Clean Mama! She easily just gave me back two hours of my life on weekends.
But I digress. Not only does Clean Mama have one of the most helpful blogs on the planet, but she also has an Etsy shop full of organizational goodies to simplify your life. She has an array of printables on various subjects that you buy as a file and you can print out as many times as you like for personal use. Kits like The To-Do List kit help you prioritize your to-dos, organize them by date, and GET THEM DONE. I love the Grocery Shopping kit— I have tried several iPhone apps unsuccessfully for this purpose, and have found nothing but an old-fashioned pen and paper list works for me. She breaks it down by category, has a menu planner, plus you get an “around town” list for all those other errands you need to run. It fits me to a “T”!
The Blogging Kit is a fantastic place to organize my ideas |
Bloggers will enjoy the Blogging Kit (it proved essential in organizing the Spring Clean Sweep event). I’m loving the Budget and Bill Pay Kit as well as several other goodies Becky sent my way to try out. The kits truly work the way my brain does, but it’s on paper, so it’s 100 times better. They have simplified the areas of my life that were the most chaotic.
I know you want to get in on the fun. Here’s how!
Prize: $50 in printables from Clean Mama— that enough for her Everything Kit!

My favorite tip is do a load of laundry a day. It’s amazing how out of control laundry can get if you don’t stay on top of it. Which despite my best efforts happens a lot around here.

I use the Mr. Clean cleaning sponges to wash the soot off the glass on the fireplace doors. It does a fabulous job of cleaning the glass so I can see the fire in the fire place.

Here’s my cleaning tip for cleaning windows: Fill a gallon bucket with warm water and add 1 teaspoon of hand dishwashing detergent. The best trick is to use very little detergent – too much soap in the water causes streaks.

My cleaning tip is to have a home for everything, which in itself is not a simple task, but so easy to tidy up when things have a designated home sweet home.

Favorite cleaning tip: Wipe down the shower with a rag after using it. That buys you like an extra month before you have to actually clean it. 🙂
