Organizing Products Hall of Fame

There’s something about an organized space that fills me with peace and happiness. Life is often cluttered and frenzied, so a clear desk or perfectly tabbed planner gives me all the feels. Whenever I’m feeling overwhelmed, I stop what I’m doing and organize something. Literally ANYTHING. Organizing has been a self-soothing mechanism for years and is slightly healthier than my former self-soothing mechanism, scarfing down potato chips. Over the years, there are products that have become absolute stand-outs when it comes to both form and (organized) function, and I can’t wait to share them with you today!

IKEA Magazine Files I try to buy neutral colored organizing supplies for two reasons: first, so they don’t go out of style after a few years and second, so I can easily find more later if needed. Finding a perfect match for your aqua chevron bins from 2007 is tough, yo! When in doubt, go for the most neutral colors you can find.

Snapware Cereal Holders Ditch the boxes that leave cereal stale and exposed to unwanted guests (if you live in the south, you know what I mean!) I decant all my cereal into these Snapware holders that keep them fresh and easy to see. Plus, they are so much prettier on the shelf than various colored and shaped boxes that just add to the visual clutter.

Brother P-Touch Label Maker Is there anything I won’t label? NOPE! I love my labelers! I print out labels for manila folders to make reading them super easy. We label drawers, shelves, games, toys, cords, chargers, EVERYTHING.

Command Hooks If there were a clear winner of the top organizing product of all time, I would nominate Command hooks. I’ve used them in dozens of ways in both my house and apartment. With so many sizes and styles, there’s one for every need. They come off cleanly and are reusable if you get extra backings. LOVE LOVE LOVE.

Cord Ties We use two types in our home, and both are fabulous. The Velcro cord wraps are very functional, and these colorful cord twist ties are easy to use AND super cute. It’s simply a matter of personal preference as to which you’ll like better.

Pull Out Lid Rack My friend Jenny told me about the pull-out lid rack and told me it would CHANGE MY LIFE and she was right. This baby makes lid organizing a breeze, no more stacking and cascading crashes as I attempt to make them all fit. Roll it out, roll it in. Ahhhhhhh!

Non-Slip Hangers My goal is to convert my closet over fully to these velvet non-slip hangers and ditch the mismatched ones. Plus they are better for your clothes in the long run and won’t let pieces slip off onto the floor. They’re slim and will give your closet a streamlined look. Honor your clothes, and they’ll honor you back!

Vinyl Dry Erase Calendar We have a family dry erase calendar and LOVE IT. The kids use it to see which activities they have each day while my husband jots down his travel schedule. This version is much prettier though, and can be applied to any wall.

Wooden Hangers Along the same line as the velvet hangers, buying a pack of wooden hangers for your coat closet makes everything look neater almost instantly! Make sure there are a few empty ones hanging for guests to use too.

Striped Bins My ‘neutral rule’ sometimes flies out the window when I see stripes. Yes, usually it’s best to get one neutral color so you can add on later but I just adore rugby stripes so much these are hard to resist. Plus I kinda consider black and white stripes a neutral, it’s a classic and timeless combo.

Laundry Sorter Man, there are A LOT of ugly laundry sorters out there. Laundry is already unpleasant, might as well get a stylish sorter to make tacking the task a bit more exciting. This one is not only pretty, but functional and fits with most decor styles.

Lazy Susan These can be used anywhere– fridges, cabinets, countertops, craft rooms. If you have an awkward corner or space, consider using a lazy susan to maximize every inch.

Attached Lid Bins No more wasting time looking for lost lids, get these bins with attached lids instead! When empty, you can still stack them without the hassle of storing and matching various types of lids inside. Makes it so easy!

Over the Door Shoe Organizer Think beyond shoes for this one! We use them to store stuffed animals, small toys, craft supplies… they are a great way to add storage in previously under utilized spaces, and the clear pockets make it easy for you to know what’s in there.

Honeycomb Drawer Organizers While I can’t say these have changed my life, I can admit they make getting dressed that much prettier each day. They’re perfect for undies, socks, ties, belts, smalls, and more. You can see how I used them to organize my lingerie drawer here.

Car Trunk Organizer Ice scrapers, grocery bags, emergency supplies, soccer cleats, a granola bar, a Red Sox hat, and a bag of things to return to the mall. THAT’S what’s living in my trunk right now, but you’d never know it because it’s stowed neatly in a collapsible car trunk organizer. This one also has a cooler which is a total bonus.

Of course, the best organizing products are the one you need and use. It’s always a good idea to see what you need before buying anything.
