Before I get a million frantic texts and phone calls, NO, we’re not expecting a little bundle of joy. 😉 As Amy Poehler once said, ‘that store is C-L-O-S-E-D’. However, once in awhile I get to live my dream of playing with interior design and today I’m indulging in sweet nursery fantasies thanks to my friend Darlene of Fieldstone Hill.
As part of her bebe bebe bebe nursery series, I was able to rethink the nursery that should have been for my sweet Noodle. I’ll let you head over there to read why this baby:
… deserved more than this nursery.
In hindsight, she deserves this one– the Sweet and Sassy Girls’ Nursery I dreamed up now that I know my pink-loving, huge-hearted warrior for who she really is. Here’s a sneak peek at what you’ll find on the design board:
{I’m such a tease. But there’s so much more eye candy over on the design board along with a list of resources on Fieldstone Hill, plus the story behind it of course!}
Thank you Darlene for including me and allowing me to dream once again of tiny toes and that sweet newborn smell. And congrats on your gorgeous new addition! Time goes so so quickly. School started this week, and times marches further away from nurseries and tiny toes each day.
So here’s my burning question: if you’ve ever put together a nursery, what was your favorite thing in it (besides the babe, of course)? What would you do differently? Do you still like the same colors/style? Or– and this might be the most realistic– am I just a redecorating crazy lady who needs to get a grip on the constant need to tweak our home?

I love the glider in our nursery — we had so many wonderful moments there: Reading stories, nursing, and rocking to sleep.
But I also love our cube-style bookcase, with fabric drawers, because it has been so versatile. They are one of the only pieces of furniture that are still in the room, now that our son is older and out of the crib! When he gets taller, we’ll rotate them so they’re 3 cubes high, so it’s like they’re growing with him.

My girls were born 19 & 16 years ago when we didn’t have such cute things as now (I didn’t know you could DIY things either). We were on a limited budget and didn’t know the sex of either one. We had Winnie the Pooh theme in primary colors for both of them (because they were little toots and wouldn’t let us know what they were on the ultrasound…but I digress…lol). My favorite thing was my new lazy boy rocker that my husband surprised me with for in the nursery. I cried the day we had to finally give it up because it has seen better days 🙁 .
I have told my husband that when we have grandkids (in the far future), I’m going to have my own nursery at my house for the grandkids that I can finally decorate with all the fun new stuff. I love the nursery from The Homes I Have Made. I love the colors and the owls! I just want the grandkids to have a fun place to stay when visiting my house 🙂

My favorite part of my daughter’s nursery was using green paint for the walls. I was able to add so much to it since it wasn’t a super girly color. It made the rest of the decor just fall into place. Then when baby boy arrived, I didn’t have to repaint to move him in 🙂

I love what you did…that dresser and mirror are gorgeous. My favorite thing in my 1st born’s nursery were a set of 3 horse pictures that were passed down to me from my grandmother. One still resides in his big boy room but they were my among some of my favorite things at my grandmother’s house and when I would stay the night with her, I would sit and stare at them until I fell asleep. It was so special to be able to have my Henry do the same. Then, for Oliver, I would have to say the rocking glider recliner…hands down. That sweet boy of mine would be up all hours of the night and without that rocker in there, I would have never gotten any sleep! 😉

I LOVE the story of the three horse pictures, what a special connection. And yes, our glider got tons of use as well; thank goodness for the glider!
