Several of my favorite bloggers have been posting about craft rooms lately, and it reminded me of my old craft room. Before there was a Noodle, her room was a craft room. And before it was a craft room, it was a storage room. And before that, it was a teenager’s bedroom (not my teen, the previous owner’s son). Now it’s slated to become the baby boy nursery, which makes this redesign the FOURTH ONE this room has seen in just 5 years!
Let’s check out the BEFORE, from the day we moved into our house four years ago:
Tacky mirrors behind the bookcase? Yup.
Weird line on three walls? Oh, yes.
Wallpaper on just one wall? We’ve got it!
This room was so ready to see some love. We painted it a green/yellow color on three of the walls, leaving the wallpaper up because it wasn’t THAT bad. We painted the bookcase white to pop against the new wall color. Then I put all my craft supplies into clear plastic bins and labeled them. I set up a buffet table as my work station, hanging various baskets and bins from the wall to store supplies. I put fabric into an embroidery hoop as a makeshift “inspiration board”. The quilt stand held large pieces of fabric. It was a great space to work on my projects and learn to use my sewing machine!
Then Noodle came along, and we happily turned it into this:
Which may leave you wondering where all my
crap crafting supplies are now living. Enter HGTV, a camera crew, an Australian carpenter, and four of the most fun days ever! I know I still need to post about it, but they renovated our sunroom to become a wonderful living area FULL of storage. I’ll let you in on those secrets in Part Two! Until then, keep up those blog posts about your fabulous craft rooms. I can still dream about someday having a whole room devoted to DIY stuff, right?
