Spring is in the air, which means thoughts of outdoor living and enjoying the backyard patio start taking up most of my brain space. Since we’re building a patio in our yard this year, I rounded up some great patio furniture options as well as gorgeous outdoor decor to add the finishing touch.
One thing I know about outdoor furniture and rugs: the earlier in the season you get them, the better. Options sell out quickly, especially once the spring weather hits. If you don’t believe me, try getting outdoor furniture mid-summer at popular stores like IKEA and Target and you’ll find very little available!
Avoid the disappointment by finding favorites early in the season, and you’ll thank me later when you’re hanging out in your gorgeous porch or patio while others scour stores for what’s left.
Our Patio Plan
I’ll share more once we start construction, but we have a major landscaping project in the works. We’re just waiting for backordered supplies to arrive. The plan includes a patio, sitting wall, firepit, walkways, a dry river bed to manage water in our wooded area, front garden beds, and more. Here’s the tentative plan:
While I wait for the pavers to arrive (it’s been over 3 months, supply chain issues are real) I’m purchasing patio decor and furniture now so we can enjoy the space as soon as it’s finished. As I’ve searched online, I’ve found some stylish patio decor and had to share these finds with you in case you’re looking to update your outdoor space as well.
Patio Furniture and Decor:
- Outdoor Pouf Pillow
- Coffee Table
- Tilt Patio Umbrella
- Boho Stationary Wicker Egg Chair
- Arch Woven Indoor Outdoor Lumbar Pillow
- White Cement Fluted Pescadero Outdoor Planter
- Graphic Steps Outdoor Rug
- Outdoor Wicker Symmetrical Patio Sectional with Cushions
- Outdoor Lantern Pillar Candle Holder
- Concrete Propane Fire Pit
Outdoor Patio Lighting
We also plan to hang outdoor string lights like these café style hanging lights. Here’s a trick for hanging them without a wall (we did this on our deck in our Pennsylvania house, and now we’ve used the same hack on the small deck attached to the porch.) Once the patio is built, we plan to hang them above for a truly beautiful outdoor living area that will look magical at night.

It’s been a long few years to say the least, and my mental health needs a space to retreat and enjoy friends, family, and nature too. And I’m so ready to finally get a fire pit like the Solo Stove so we can bring it to the beach as well. We’re trying to decide between that or this modern concrete firepit and I just can’t decide which I love more.
